Green procurement implies procurement of materials from supplier that contains the attributes containing environmental aspects such as recyclability, reusability  and utilization of non-poisonous particulars. Green procurement can also be the procurement of materials which helps the actions such as waste reduction of toxic material and material substitution. Although Green procurement is subset of Green supply chain Management but it can be known as largest subsets among other depending upon purchasing importance and organization structure.

Researches have revealed that Green purchasing practices have significant positive influence over the firm performance keeping in context to the accountability of firm’s internal management and the selection for suppliers which eventually leads to firm reputationThe outcomes of these researches revealed that green purchasing practices if adopted were able to reduce the waste and encourage reuse and recycling activities without causing hinderance to firm’s other department like distribution and marketing which eventually leads to positive growth on the firm financial performance even. 

Previous researches have mostly highlighted the environmental benefits obtained through the adoption of green procurement approach and how they create demand for green material services and products and are beneficiary in reducing the pollution and impacting positively over the human health. But the focus of our research is not just limited to the environment benefits these practices provide.

Our research portrays a holistic view of green procurement practices be employed by the industry can actually enables them do not just reduce waste but also how efficiently they can utilize their resources that could be wasted and can effectively ensure growth in their firm’s performance which will eventually leads to positive firm’s reputation. More so our research would be studying the green procurement practices that are adopted by the petroleum and pharmaceutical industry. By conducting the research over these two industries belonging an entirely different sector can give a more comprehensive view to our research.
