PROCUREMENT TENDER TYPES

 


1. Open Tender: This is a type of procurement tender that allows any interested supplier or contractor to submit their bid. It typically involves publishing a public notice inviting bids from potential suppliers. Open tenders promote competition and transparency in the procurement process.


2. Restricted Tender: In a restricted tender the procuring organization selects a limited number of suppliers or contractors to participate. This can be done through a pre-qualification process or by inviting specific suppliers based on their expertise or past performance. Restricted tenders are often used when there is a need for a high level of technical expertise or qualification.

3. Request for Proposals (RFP): An RFP is a type of tender used when the procuring organization requires solutions or ideas from suppliers or contractors to address specific needs or problems. The RFP typically includes detailed specifications or requirements and suppliers are expected to submit a proposal that outlines their approach methodology and pricing.

4. Request for Quotations (RFQ): RFQs are used when the procuring organization needs to procure goods or services with well-defined specifications and wants to compare prices from different suppliers. Suppliers are typically asked to submit a quotation that includes the pricing information and other relevant details. RFQs are commonly used for low-value or standardized purchases.

5. Two-Stage Tender: A two-stage tender involves an initial qualification stage followed by a second stage where shortlisted suppliers submit their final bids. The first stage evaluates supplier qualifications while the second stage focuses on evaluating the technical and commercial aspects of the bids. This type of tender is commonly used for complex or large-scale projects.

6. Electronic Reverse Auction: In an electronic reverse auction the procuring organization invites suppliers to compete in real-time by submitting successive downward bids based on the lowest price. This type of tender is particularly effective for procuring goods or services with easily quantifiable specifications and a large number of potential suppliers.

7. Framework Agreement: A framework agreement is a long-term agreement between a procuring organization and one or more suppliers. It establishes the terms and conditions governing future procurements without fully specifying the goods or services to be procured. Under a framework agreement mini-competitions or direct awards can be conducted to select suppliers for specific requirements
